We are proud and excited to introduce The Space, a specialised facility at Centrepoint caring for children aged 4-11 years who have complex or additional needs.
The Space gives parents the opportunity to manage their daily lives with the reassurance that their children are being cared for in a safe, warm and welcoming environment. This facility enables parents to go to work, spend quality time with one other or their other children, or even just have a bit of “me” time; safe in the knowledge that their children are not only being cared for according to their specific needs by a fully qualified and experienced team of staff, but are also having the best possible experience whilst in our care.
With mood lighting and soothing music, our spacious sensory room is very calming and tranquil, and is a very peaceful place to be. The room has a sense of serenity and warmth and is thoughtfully resourced to encourage your child’s exploration but also provides a safe space to escape, calm down and reset.
The outside area and spacious gym motivate your child to be active and participate in a variety of activities with other children. We have a broad range of equipment to support and improve gross motor skills and social skills, including balance bars, bouncy castles, swings, astro turf football pitch, mud kitchen and an outdoor classroom.
The Space After School Club is the only formal supported After School Club on the island, caring for a maximum of 18 children who attend a specialised setting like Mont à l'Abbé or attend a mainstream school with additional support. Your child will be collected from school by their Support Worker and brought back to The Space where they will be given a healthy snack followed by varied engaging activities. Spaces are available via the Short Breaks Scheme run by the Government of Jersey, or by contacting Centrepoint directly.
The Holiday Club currently runs for 7 weeks a year, and can accommodate up to 18 children per session. The Holiday Club is a particularly popular service; spaces are reserved very quickly.
Children can attend for full days (9am to 3pm) or half days (9am to 12pm, 12pm to 3pm or 3pm to 6pm). There are lots of exciting on-site activities which are based on the children’s choice, and we also offer a trip every day so that the children can enjoy the vast array of amazing things that our wonderful island has to offer. Parents will receive daily planners prior to the session (in picture form) so that the children know what to expect each day. Snacks are provided, but children staying for the full day or attending the afternoon session will require a packed lunch. As with the After School Club, children can access the Holiday Club if they attend a specialised setting or attend a mainstream school with additional support.
The Weekend Club sessions run from 9am to 12pm and 12:15pm to 3:15pm on Saturday; and 9:30am to 12:30pm on a Sunday. There are an array of on-site activities, including baking, arts and crafts, sensory play and group games. We are delighted to be able to also offer trips on both sessions. Spaces are allocated through the Short Breaks Scheme.
