Let's play!

At Centrepoint, we believe that play is a right not a privilege.

Our Playcare Centre is a fun, friendly and safe environment for children aged 4 to 12 years. We are very lucky to be the only Playcare Centre in Jersey boasting its own facilities, which enables us to put children at the heart of everything we do.

Term time, we offer a Breakfast Club and After School Club at La Pouquelaye as well as After School Club at Grouville School. Additionally, we offer an extensive programme at our Holiday Club during the school holidays. With our fantastic fleet of 11 minibuses, the island is our oyster; not only can we take your child to and from school, but we can also take them out and about to enjoy all the wonderful things that our island has to offer us.

Our team of highly-qualified playworkers fully understand the need for play and are on hand to assist and support all of the children in our care, whilst remaining sensitive to their individual needs and abilities. We pride ourselves in adopting a child-led approach.

We offer a wide range of activities, on and off site. On site we offer art and crafts, role play, home corner, cinema rooms, games rooms, dance room, construction room, floor games, dressing up and two large outside areas. We have a purpose-built astro turf five-a-side football pitch and climbing frames. In the younger age group they have an astro turf area, decking, a slide and stage area, mud kitchen, tree swings, bikes, scooters and lots of other outside activities.

We have our very own bushcraft area, designated for play with nature, we also make fires with the children, den building using tools and the use of slack lines and tree climbing.

In the school holidays, we organise activities including cooking, den building, talent shows, arts and crafts and water play during the summer on our huge water slides. As well as all the amazing activities on site we also include activities around beautiful Jersey including: rock pooling, beach games, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, surfing and banana boating. For those who are not so keen on water activities or want a change we also offer archery, splat master (children’s version of paintball) and high ropes at Creepy Valley.

The Importance of Play

We allow your child to have the opportunity to learn through play, make choices, learn new life skills, grow in confidence and make long-lasting memories. Centrepoint believes that:

  • Children need time, space and freedom to make sense of the world they live in
  • Play provides the freedom and scope to learn, practice, experiment and make mistakes
  • There is a need to offer “risk” in children’s play, as well as the need to keep them safe from harm
  • Interaction with the world through play exposes children and young adults to all kinds of necessary, confusing and frightening ideas, events and challenges
  • “Risky” and free play is the apprenticeship of adulthood
  • Taking risks encourages and promotes a child’s self-esteem and inner confidence

We understand how busy mornings can be, especially with the pressure of juggling getting yourself to work and your child to school on time.

After School Club

monday - friday / school pickup to 6pm

Whether you work full-time or are just looking to avoid the school traffic, we can collect your child and bring them back to Centrepoint where they can enjoy our fantastic facilities.

Our premises boast a variety of superb spaces that are available to the children, including a well equipped art space to get creative in.

Our kitchen is always available for making healthy snacks (and the occasional muffin or cookie!), and we actively encourage the children to get involved and learn new skills with our cookery and baking experiences.

Our Games Room has been designed by the children with lots of fun games and activities including a football table, a large basketball shoot out game, an arcade system, a den area with beanbags and books. We also have a TV area for relaxing and unwinding.

Our large sports hall has two industrial standard bouncy castles, mini trampolines, soft play, tumble track, large stage for dancing or shows, and so much more.

Our outside areas feature astro-turf football pitches that can be used for many fun games including an annual football competition with plenty of awards at the end of the season, mud kitchens, sand and water play, a 9-obstacle assault course, plenty of trees for climbing or zip lining, rope and bucket swings, rollerblades, skateboards and scooters. There are plenty of water guns, two giant inflatable water slides and slip and sides for those hot summer days.

We have our very own bushcraft area, where we make fires with the children (great for marshmallows) and build dens and hideouts.

Our after school activities include Art Club, Street Dance, Football Club, Cooking Club, Majorettes Club, Stop Motion Animation Workshops and so much more.

As well as all the activities on offer in our After School Club, we have an abundance of amazing trips which include some very unique and exciting opportunities. From local parks, woods and beaches, to banana boating, paddle-boarding, paint balling, Jump Jersey and Amazin’ Adventure Park, there is something for everyone.

We understand the need to play for children is innate and with that in mind, we encourage the children to grow and develop through play, whether this be from helping to build a fire, climbing a tree, building a den, paddle boarding along St Brelade’s Bay or learning how to cook, we encourage and support the children to get the most out of their time with us and we endeavour to ensure the children to leave with an abundance of happy memories.
