At the Centrepoint Child Contact Centre, we aim to provide seamless handovers and supported contact for families across the island. Our goal is to provide parents with the tools they need to eventually complete handovers without the use of our Centre.
We believe that every child deserves to have a loving and nurturing relationship with both parents, even when circumstances may make this challenging. We are delighted to extend our warmest welcome to you and your family, as we strive to create a safe provision where children can maintain meaningful connections with their parents, grandparents, or other important family members.
Supported contact helps children to keep in touch with parents if trust has broken down or communication is difficult. Parents do not have to meet and several families can use the facilities at the same time.
Supported contact sessions have an assessed risk level lower than that of supervised contact sessions. This is due to direct observations not being made within supervised contact sessions, unlike the Contact Centre where staff and/or volunteers are present to ensure the comfort of those engaging in the service. The Centrepoint Child Contact Centre can be used as a progressive form of contact proceeding supervised contact arrangements that your family may already be engaged with.
We understand that separation or divorce can be a difficult and emotional experience for both parents and children. Our dedicated team is here to provide a compassionate and supportive environment, ensuring that children can continue to have positive interactions with their non-resident parent in a fun and welcoming setting.
Our primary focus is on the well-being and happiness of the children involved. We create an atmosphere where they feel comfortable, respected, and encouraged to express themselves freely. Our centre aims to be a neutral ground, providing a safe space for parents to interact with their children without external pressures or conflicts. We cater to children aged 0-17 and we aim to provide a fun and stimulating environment no matter what the age.
At the Centrepoint Child Contact Centre, we facilitate handovers between caregivers in addition to our Supported Contact sessions. This allows children to move seamlessly between caregivers while preserving their emotional well-being.
During handovers, parents are not expected to interact with each other, with separate entrances and arrival times put in place to establish this. This service provision supports a child (or children) moving from one caregiver to another, with the centre being used for a short period as a drop-off/pick-up point.
The Centrepoint Child Contact Centre can be used as a progressive form of contact proceeding supervised contact arrangements that your family may already be engaged with. Depending on your circumstances, it’s possible that a mutually trusted person could assist with handovers.
We aim to work with the caregivers when the time is right, to enable a smooth transition from our Child Contact Centre to the community while keeping the child(ren)’s best interests in mind at all times.
